Tehran, Sep 16, IRNA – Iranian women futsal team defeated Palestinian team 16-1 in the 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games of Asia and Pacific region in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, on Saturday.
The Iranian squad managed to defeat the Palestinian team one day before the official inauguration of games in Ashgabat.
Iranian women futsal team is slated to face Thailand on Sep 20, 2017, in Ashgabat.
The Iranian squad, comprising 214 sportswomen and sportsmen, are also attending the games in Ashgabat attended by 49 Asian countries and 24 teams from Pacific region.
The Iranian squad comprising 115 sportsmen and 66 sportswomen would compete in 20 sport fields.
In the previous edition of the competition which was held in South Korea last year, the 82-member Iranian squad ranked sixth and managed to snatch three gold, six silver and two bronze medals.
