Iranian actress Maral Farjad received the Best Supporting Actress award at US’ Love International Film Festival (FIFF) for her role in ‘Immortality’ directed by Mehdi Fard-Qaderi.

In a ceremony in Los Angeles, the Iranian actress received the award in close competition with Meagan English (‘In the Wake of Ire’) and Jackie Nova (‘Art of Deception’), loveinternationalfilmfestival.com reported.

‘Immortality’ is Fard-Qaderi’s debut feature about events occurring on a rainy night on a train. The film narrates the story of six families each in a different compartment, told through a nonlinear passage of time.

Love International Film Festival, held annually in Los Angeles, is dedicated to showcasing films with a theme on “family values, love, peace, acceptance, tolerance, friendship and introducing intercultural values”.

Six Iranian films were nominated by the jury members for several titles at the FIFF in the US.

‘Immortality’ as well as ‘Temporary License’ by Iranian filmmaker Afshin Hashemi received nominations for the Best Feature Film award and Best Screenplay at the American festival.

‘Limit’ by Javad Darai and ‘The Rainy Love’ by Mahdieh Shirin have been nominated for the best foreign short film award.

In the short animated films category, the nominations went to ‘Swan Lake’ by Ali Nikfar and ‘Blows with the Wind’ by Hazhir Asadi.

The 2018 Love International Film Festival was held from July 24-27 in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, the US.

The festival puts its spotlight on movies that are supposed to bring “the world closer together, and promotes love and healing through cinema”.
