Iran claimed the top spot at the Women Classic International Tournament in Beirut, Lebanon, collecting four medals – including two golds.

On Sunday, Fatemeh Nikbakht – representing Iran in the 60kg weight class – outpowered her Iraqi opponent in the final after beating wrestlers from Syria and Georgia en route to the final.

Nikbakht’s 75kg compatriot, Masoumeh Khanlar also overcame an Iraqi rival in the final for Iran’s second gold.

In addition, Fatemeh Mohammadi (50kg) and Zahra Yazdani (55kg) settled for two bronze medals after beating their Kyrgyzstani opponents in the third-place bouts.

A total of 99 points gave Iran’s six-a-side team a top-spot finish at the end of the competition – held in the Lebanese capital on September 22-23.

Iraq (83 points) and Syria (67 points) finished second and third respectively.
