TEHRAN – Iran’s southwestern Khuzestan province has set a goal to increase the value of handicraft exports per annum to $7 million within the next three years from currently around $3 million.

Alireza Izadi, the provincial tourism chief, expressed hope that the province could fetch $7 million in annual handicrafts exports in a three-year period initiating a campaign for promoting arts and history of the region, CHTN reported on Monday.

Elsewhere in his remarks the official said Khuzestan exported $3 million worth of handicrafts in the previous Iranian calendar year 1396 (March 2017-March 2018).

Iran exported $280 million worth of handicrafts last year, the Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization announced in May.
