The Eighth Fadjr International Fashion and Clothing Festival (February 15-21) showed that designing clothes and fashion received enough attention, said Iran’s culture minister.

According to Mehr News Agency, Abbas Salehi who was speaking during a visit to the eighth edition of the festival, added, “In the past, Iranian designers used to copy clothing styles, but Fadjr festival showed that creative designing inspired by Iranian identity was seriously taken into account.”

Speaking about clothing styles and great cultural diversity in Iran, he said that the eight edition paid special attention to fashion styles of Makran village in southern Iran.

Enough attention to clothing and fashion from Iranian perspective will help the country economically by creating jobs for the industry.

Salehi said, “We began a creative and innovative industry, but there is still a long way to go before we can reach mass production in clothing and fashion.”

The festival paved the ground for connecting the producers and customers without any intermediary, he said.

Iranian producers, designers and brands showcased their latest products and achievements in fashion and clothing at this festival.

The opening ceremony was attended by Vice President for Family and Women’s Affairs Masoumeh Ebtekar and the former assistant to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on citizenship rights, Shahindokht Molaverdi.
