Iran’s Theater Week will be held in Moscow in spring to make Russians more familiar with Iranian culture.

The event, jointly organized by Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory and Moscow Theater, will begin on March 27, concurrent with World Theater Day and National Day of Performing Arts in Iran and will continue for a week, IRNA reported.

Speaking about the programs of the event, the curator of the festival Solmaz Hemmatzadeh said that the event will open with a performance of traditional Iranian music.

It will also include Iran’s traditional plays such as tazieh (passion play), naqqali and siahbazifollowed by four Iranian plays and a joint Iran-Russia theatrical production.

Senior cultural and political officials from the two countries will attend the festival’s inauguration ceremony.

The festival is being organized to popularize cultural relations between the two countries. Iran and Russia have broadened cultural relations in the past couple of years and artists, musicians and cineastes of the two countries have cooperated closely in this period.

Earlier in September, Moscow hosted Iran’s Cultural Week at Maly Theater.
