New Campaign Raises Funds for Women-led Cancer Research
The American Cancer Society launched a new program today aimed at bringing Kentucky leaders, all female, together to raise money to support female-led cancer research.
These female influencers would also serve as role models and spread the word about the contributions women are making in the fight against cancer.
“Your commitment to this movement will sustain women-led cancer research, launch new careers, and inspire a new generation of young women considering careers in science,” said Erica Kellem Beasley, ACS Executive Director.
The co-chairs for the new ResearcHERS -Women Fighting Cancer campaign are the Better Business Bureau’s President and CEO, Reanna Smith Hamblin and Chief of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Papa John’s, VIctoria Russell.
Joining these women as other ambassadors are:

Amanda Beam, Freelance Journalist in Southern Indiana and Louisville
Kate Caufield, Account Manager, Corporate Relations at the American Cancer Society, Louisville
Jasleen Chahal, Program Manager at the University of Kentucky, Lexington
Melissa Dodson, Administrative Assistant at Logan Aluminum, Russellville
Fata Dzeko, Director of Operations at Lacuna Health Center, Louisville. She is also a ACS board member.

Each ambassador is committed to raising $2,500 each year, May 1 through May 31.
ACH ResearcSHERS supports all types of cancers and all ages. Once the best research is identified for funding, ReseacHERS funds are then applied to women-led grants.
