Reference to medical articles written by Iranian researchers in 2017 and 2018 has grown by 400 percent, said deputy minister of health, treatment and medical education.
Dr. Shahin Akhoundzadeh told IRNA that a portion of this achievement is due to cohort studies and implementation of national program of registering diseases.
He also said, “Close to 8,000 Iranian medical articles have been added to the world’s treatment protocol in the past five years — a great honor for our country.”
Akhnoundzadeh said registration of information of those suffering 30 important diseases including cancer, cardiovascular diseases, MS, kidney failure and liver transplant is under way across the country.
He said 10 comprehensive laboratories were established during the tenure of 11th Government, adding 14 new ones are being equipped.
Every university of medical sciences needs a comprehensive laboratory, he said. “Currently, we have 70 universities and faculties of medical sciences across the country.”
