“Under the Aqua Women Plan, 50,000 women have been educated and trained in water literacy to date,” said the advisor to the minister of energy for women’s and family affairs.
“One of our tasks at the Ministry of Energy is to promote women’s social dialogue in the community, and given that women can play a role in managing consumption, we are working to use their power in this regard,” Molood Shiva stated.
“We believe that if we want a change in consumption, this change must happen in families and we will see earlier results if women play a role,” she added.
“Women have a better outlook on water and environmental issues,” Shiva said, “and their capacity should be integrated with water and energy projects.”
She continued, “The capacity utilization of women began with water footprints in Tehran two years ago, and since then, in 2018 the Aqua Women training program was started.”
“In the Lady of Water project, NGOs which are an expanded capacity of the people are being used and their implementation has already started in the cities of Mashhad, Tabriz, and Gilan and now in Bojnurd.”
According to Shiva, in each province, depending on the provinces, 5,000 to 15,000 women are covered by this plan.
The advisor to the energy minister also announced the implementation of the Lighten Project and said, “For the management of electricity consumption, the Lighten Project is on the agenda and similar to the Aqua Women plan, the capacity of women will be used.”
The Vice Presidency for Women and Family Affairs also supports various projects that promote women’s knowledge and awareness to conserve natural resources and reduce energy and collaborates with the Ministry of Energy on these issues.
