Iranian shooter Elaheh Ahmadi was picked as the new flag bearer at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia, replacing the injured taekwondo practitioner Kimia Alizadeh.

Alizadeh was ruled out of the Games after she suffered a torn ACL during a training session on Sunday and now Ahmadi is given the honor to carry the national flag in the opening ceremony in Jakarta’s Gelora Bung Karno Stadium on August 18.

The 36-year-old has represented the country in the Games on two occasions in Guangzhou 2010 – collecting two silvers and a bronze – and Incheon 2014 in South Korea, where she won a team 10m rifle silver along with Najmeh Khedmati and Narjes Emam-Qolinejad.
