The Iranian ambassador acknowledged Hesamifard as one of the thousands of Iranian women who have brought honor to the country through their outstanding achievements in various fields, including sports and academia.
Afsaneh Hesamifard made history by becoming the first Iranian woman to summit K2. Moreover, she has the distinction of being the fourth Iranian woman to conquer Mount Everest.
Located in the northwestern Karakoram Range, K2 stands at 8,611 meters above sea level, making it the second-highest mountain on the planet, just after Mount Everest which peaks at 8,849 meters.
