Islam and women’s financial rights

Women’s statue in Islam is usually misunderstood and undermined around the world. Muslim women are seen as oppressed beings inferior to men, while in reality in Islam, men and women are equal.

Islam empowers women, and this empowerment extended to their financial rights:

– Women are financially independent, and no one has the right to take from their money without their permission.

– Islam does not believe in discrimination between men and women from an economic perspective.

– If a woman’s husband is poor and she is rich, then she has the right to not spend on her house.

– If a woman’s husband divorces her, he has to pay alimony to her and their children.

– A woman inherits from her parents, her brothers, her children, and her husband, even though she does not bear alimony.

– There are cases in which a woman inherits as mush a man does, and sometimes even inherits more.

On International Women’s Day, we hope to spread awareness and confront the injustice that Muslim women endure by those who ignore Islam’s teachings and proceed to attack its followers in the name of women’s freedom.
