During the review of the bill to prevent women’s injuries and improve their security, the Vice President for Women and Family Affairs stressed that the bill is family-centered and defends their rights.
Attending the open chamber of the parliament on Apr.9, 2023, Ensiyeh Khazali said: “The bill was examined thoroughly by the experts.”
The Iranian government has submitted a long-awaited bill for the protection of women against violence to the parliament.
The Protection, Dignity, and Security of Women against Violence bill was approved by lawmakers with a majority of votes in favor.
The bill titled, Protection, Dignity, and Security of Women against Violence, had been under review since September 2019. It criminalizes any act or behavior that causes “physical or mental harm” to women “as a vulnerable gender”.
